This is a volunteer project to monitor law enforcement in Alberta. It is an independent, non-partisan, non-commercial public-interest effort run by volunteers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any police service, government body, political party, or the people named on it.
A documentary record that gathers and organizes information already on the public record — from police oversight bodies (ASIRT / the Alberta Police Review Commission), the courts, public fatality inquiries, municipal budgets, accredited news media, and other public databases — and presents it in one place with citations.
Nothing on this site is legal advice and it is not a substitute for professional advice or official records. If you need legal help, consult a qualified lawyer. For official information, consult ASIRT / the Police Review Commission, the courts, or the relevant municipality directly.
Much of what appears here describes allegations, complaints, or criminal charges. A charge or an allegation is not a finding of guilt. Everyone is presumed innocent unless and until proven otherwise in court. Where a matter was decided — acquittal, withdrawal, stay, conviction, discipline, settlement, or a "no charges" clearance — the record states the outcome as reported by its sources. A decision not to charge or to clear an officer is also not, by itself, proof that nothing wrong occurred; it reflects the relevant body's conclusion.
Where an account of an incident comes from police, paramedics, or an oversight body, it is presented as their account ("police say," "according to ASIRT"), not as established fact, especially while a matter is unresolved or disputed by a family.
We aim to publish only what is supported by public sources, and we link to them. Information may nonetheless contain errors, be incomplete, or become out of date as cases progress. We rely in part on third-party sources and databases (see Sources & credits) and do not control their accuracy. If you believe anything here is inaccurate, unfair, or out of date — including named individuals and the police services — please tell us and we will review it promptly: see Corrections & right of reply. We will correct genuine errors and record responses alongside the relevant entry.
We publish information about people's professional conduct as documented in public sources. We do not publish private or home addresses, personal contact information, or details of officers' families. People harmed by police are named only where their identity is already public, and, wherever possible, with the involvement or consent of their families; families may ask us to change how a loved one is represented.
Photographs are used in the public interest and are attributed to their source. Many are official headshots of public officials or images families have made public in their advocacy. If you hold rights to an image and want it removed, contact us via Corrections.
